About Seqword

One word a day, dealt a letter at a time. Everybody gets the same word and the same order.

The daily puzzle

The word and the order its letters arrive in are both worked out from the date, so there is nothing to download and nothing to sync: every player's browser arrives at the same puzzle on its own. A new one begins at the same moment for every player, wherever they are - a finished board counts down to it.

There is one game a day and no restart. Reloading the page picks the game back up exactly where it was left, and a board that was solved comes back solved.

What the share does not say

The share is your score, and then a row for each kind of move you made: places, bumps, swaps and slides. Green means the move put a letter where it belonged, orange means it did not. What it deliberately leaves out is where. Every player is dealt the same letters in the same order, so anything naming the box a move landed on would be naming the box that day's letter belongs in, and enough of those spell the word for somebody who has not played yet. No mark here is tied to a box: permute which letter belongs where and the whole share comes out identical.

What is kept

Today's game is stored in your browser, on your own device, as the list of moves you made. It never leaves it: there is no account, no server, and nothing here that follows you. Clearing your browser's data for this site clears the game with it.

The Android app can also remind you once a day, if you ask it to in Settings. The time you pick is kept on the phone alongside the game, and the reminder is set with Android itself - nothing is sent anywhere, and there is no list of players here to be on. Turning it off in Settings cancels it.
