Privacy Policy
Seqword · Effective 29 August 2026 · Last updated 29 August 2026
Seqword collects no personal data. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers. The game does not send anything you do to us or to anyone else. What it remembers, it remembers on your own device.
This policy covers the Seqword Android app (com.myersapps.seqword) and the Seqword
website at seqword.netlify.app. Seqword is made and
published by Chris Myers.
Information we collect
None. We do not collect, store, or transmit personal information, and we do not ask you for any. Seqword does not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, photos, files, advertising identifiers, or device identifiers, and it does not build a profile of you.
What the app stores on your device
So that a stray refresh does not cost you your game, and so the app remembers how you like it, Seqword saves a few small values in its own local storage. These never leave your device, and nothing but the app can read them:
seqword:v1:daily- Today's puzzle as you left it - the letters you have placed and the moves you have made.
seqword:v1:help- Whether you have been shown the rules, so they stop coming up unasked.
seqword:v1:theme- The light or dark theme you chose, if you chose one.
seqword:v1:reminder- The time of day you asked to be reminded at, if you asked to be. Absent unless you turn the reminder on.
You can erase all of it at any time by clearing the app's storage in Android Settings, or by uninstalling the app. On the website, clearing your browser's site data for seqword.netlify.app does the same. Seqword uses no cookies.
The internet permission
The Android app declares the INTERNET permission, and we want to be plain about
why. The app carries the whole game inside the installed package and serves it from your own
device; Android requires this permission for the app to load its own content that way. The app
contacts no server of ours, and it needs no connection to play.
The notification permission
The Android app can remind you once a day that the day's puzzle is waiting. It is off until you turn it on in Settings, and Android will ask you before the first one is scheduled. If you say no, the app carries on exactly as before.
The reminder is set with Android on your own device, at the time you picked. Nothing is sent to us and nothing is received: there is no server involved, no subscription, and no list of players to be added to. Turning it off in the app's Settings cancels it, and so does turning Seqword's notifications off in Android Settings.
Sharing your score
When you tap Share or Copy, Seqword hands your score line and a link to the game to Android's share sheet or to your clipboard. Nothing is sent anywhere by Seqword. Where it goes next is entirely your choice, and once you send it on to another app - a messaging app, a social network, an email client - that app's own privacy policy governs what happens to it.
Children
Seqword is a word puzzle suitable for all ages. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13, or under the equivalent minimum age where you live, and there is nothing in the app that would allow us to.
Third parties
Seqword contains no advertising networks, analytics SDKs, crash-reporting services, or social media SDKs. Two third parties are nonetheless involved in getting the game to you, each under its own policy rather than this one:
- Google Play distributes the Android app and may collect information about installation and use in the ordinary course of running the store. See the Google Privacy Policy.
- Netlify hosts the website and, like any web host, keeps standard server logs - IP address, browser user agent, pages requested - to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We do not use those logs to identify or track anyone. See the Netlify Privacy Policy.
Your rights
Data protection laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, delete, or export the personal data a company holds about you. We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to hand over or erase. What the app keeps is on your device and under your control, and clearing the app's storage removes it. We sell no data, because we have none to sell.
Changes to this policy
If Seqword ever changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If a future version were to collect personal data, we would say so here clearly and ask for your consent before doing it.
